City view birthing retreat has both a 2D and 3D/4D ultrasound machine. During a mother's first consultation at the facility, a 2D sonar is done by the midwife. The fee is included in the first consultation fee of R700.

3D/4D sonar scans can be requested at 28-32 weeks, after the first consultation has been done. Isolated ultrasound sessions are booked separately.

Only one 3D/ 4D ultrasound scan is recommended at 28-32 weeks, due to cavitation produced by the increased sound waves, which could be harmful to the baby if exposure is frequent or prolonged.
